Dean Besley has spent more than 20 years of his career working interstate and overseas as a contractor in project management, telecommunications, software development and business analysis.
He has been employed by sole traders and multinationals alike with nearly all being start-ups or in out-of-the-ordinary environments.
A trained electrical engineer, his analytical skills have transferred to business analysis, identifying opportunities and risks and implementing change. His multi-disciplinary management style has brought cohesiveness to unstructured or undeveloped teams and projects.
His commitment to team development and staff empowerment as the driving force behind successful projects has brought a lasting benefit for corporate clients. And it’s this forte in a cohesive approach, aligning everyone with the common path to completion, that has delivered in both the social and community enterprises area with great success.
Dean has used his corporate background and understanding of good governance and outcome-based delivery to deliver his most important work: supporting youth.
Throughout his career, Dean has undertaken volunteer roles for youth and community oriented programs between contracts. He has worked with Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation groups, Youth support services, Rite of Passage programs and various men’s groups.
In 2012, Dean was asked to be project manager for the implementation of a newly funded $2M initiative for a ‘Youth Hub’ development in Bellingen, NSW.
Six years later the Bello Youth HUB is widely acclaimed for its operational model and overall success; driven by Dean’s business skills and passion for engaging community in the wellbeing and support of its youth.
Endorsed by the local police, teachers and education service, the Youth Hub continues to grow and deliver successful outcomes for youth and the community of the Bellingen Shire. Dean’s approach to youth and understanding of business, has brought corporate, community and social services together.
